I've just read this particular individual post bout music. It was more about Singapore music scene. Actually ya i agreed on some comments she brought forward but some i don't really agree. Sorry for intruding hor! But what she said are partially facts. I love music. We love music. But, do you really know what is music? Do you know how to produce music? Or even read those notes?? I bet you most of us don't even those know not excluding those musician too. Hee.. Sorry. Creating music is not just sit down play some chords, mumble craps and there you go. Your instant 2mins-ready-composed-song. I know some musician out there did that but remember they add up elements and create notes. Its not easy. Even drums had its own notes. Sorry i've to tell this actually i don't like those Mat's who seat under the void deck, strumming their own chords, so called writing shit lyrics and so called singing with feelings. Hey boys, get some life pls. if you people wanna write bout your life, pls lah eh... Some of you are not even 18 yet lah... pls lah.. you are at the climax of life like me too. We are only bout to see the real world. Our life is still young lah eh.. pls lah.
Back to this topic. What that individual try to implement is the scene here. Did said that why should the show been brought up but what i'm gonna said is that, the particular show is fun and full of musically enjoying. If i had a time machine i really wanna get back to those era's 60s, 70s, 80s and i really love the 90s man! Did you know that those particular era's has the better music scene? Its much better than now. In our time like today, i bet you 80% of recordings, did add effects to enhance those singers own voice. Seriously. If you are really a music fan, tell you what listen to some singers who did live singing and compare it with the recorded one. It has a very massive difference. Serious shit. But those who has a very2 great voice, their vocals never change EXCEPT if they were unwell, technical problems and other matters that can't be avoided.
Those old times recordings are very bad. But, those times we could see listen to their vocal clean and natural enough without effects and cover ups. Seriously they are way much better than today singers. Next it did said that SG music scene here is more prone to Rock music. I can see that she really more into hip hop and were quite shock to hear that more rock stuff are expanding here. I love all type of genres. Even baroque music. Heard that before? Ok what i hate bout music scene here is the genres are expanding so fast. I said genres not genre. Its different. I hate this because, if this particular started rock, then the next band wud start the same thing. If this particular individual start hip hop, then the next guy wud start same again. Eh come on lah! There's bloody lots of genres in this huge world!! Who says you only need to stuck onto one genre. You can even do an experimental sounds!! Come on lah! There's alot genre ut there. I love people who did cover of the original their own styles and types. But till when are you still going to do covers? Where's your own song? Don't use others music to bring up your name even though you transform it into your own version. You have no originality if you only did that.
I know its hard to composed a song. Very hard. Unless you are a maestro. But even maestro takes a long time to produce and compose one. Did you know that Gun's n Roses song November Rain took 10 years to be composed? Creating, composing, writing and producing takes alot of time and effort. But when you see these malay musicians, one thing they still yet to do. You were upset to hear that rock is more appreciated here than hip hop. But have you ever thought of promoting our own traditional music?? Ever thought that before??? If the chinese films can go to the Hollywood, if the Hindustan musics can reach to Hollywood, why can't ours get there?? Thught of that before?? To blame this is OURSELVES. WHY??? Cos we ourself don't appreciate our own music. So think bout that not once, twice or even thrice. But think that deeply. With Anugerah coming arnd the corner, can we produce our own version of Anuar Zain, Jason Mraz, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion or even Adam Lambert? This people vocals are extremely crazy. Think bout that.
I'm not a Musician. Even sucks at guitar. But this is my point of view and opinion. We can meet up and talk about this over a cup of tea if you think this is incorrect:)
